Tsavo East and Tsavo West National Parks are two adjoining wildlife reserves located in southeastern Kenya, collectively forming Tsavo National Park. Together, they make up one of the largest protected areas in Kenya and in the world.
  1. Tsavo East National Park:
    • Established in 1948, Tsavo East is the largest national park in Kenya, covering an area of over 13,747 square kilometers.
    • The park is known for its vast open savannahs, scrublands, and the iconic Galana River that flows through it.
    • Wildlife in Tsavo East includes large herds of elephants, as well as lions, leopards, buffalo, giraffes, zebras, and various antelope species.
    • It’s also famous for its “red elephants,” which are coated in red dust from the park’s rich volcanic soil.
    • Tourist attractions in Tsavo East include the Lugard Falls, the Yatta Plateau (one of the world’s longest lava flows), and the Mudanda Rock.
  2. Tsavo West National Park:
    • Established in 1948 as well, Tsavo West covers an area of about 9,065 square kilometers.
    • It is characterized by diverse landscapes, including open plains, acacia woodlands, rocky outcrops, and the scenic Ngulia Hills.
    • The park is renowned for its dramatic scenery, particularly the Mzima Springs, where crystal-clear water gushes from underground springs providing a vital water source for wildlife.
    • Tsavo West is home to a variety of wildlife, including elephants, rhinos, hippos, crocodiles, lions, leopards, and diverse bird species.
    • Notable attractions in Tsavo West include the Roaring Rocks, Shetani Lava Flows, and the Ngulia Rhino Sanctuary, which was established to protect the endangered black rhinoceros.
Both parks offer excellent game viewing opportunities and are popular destinations for safari enthusiasts seeking an authentic African wilderness experience. They also play a crucial role in wildlife conservation in Kenya, preserving the natural habitat for numerous species.

Safari Itinerary

 

Pick up from your Mombasa/ Diani hotel in the morning and drive to Tsavo East national park which is less than 3 Hrs drive.

Tsavo East national park which is renowned for its large numbers of elephants and the famous man eating lions, Game en-route Via Aruba Dam to Ashnil Aruba lodge. Check in and have lunch at your lodge. In the afternoon, another game drive at the park later dinner and overnight at the Ashnil Aruba lodge.

 

Early morning game drive return to your lodge for breakfast, after breakfast leave Tsavo East for Tsavo West which is less than 2Hrs drive, you will arrive with Game en-route proceeding to Kilaguni Serena safari lodge.

Check in and have lunch. In the afternoon you can visit the rhino sanctuary and later return to your lodge. Dinner and overnight at the Kilaguni Serena safari lodge

Early morning breakfast, After breakfast game drive with a visit to Mzima Springs later on depart Tsavo West for Mombasa lunch at Voi lion hill camp. After lunch proceed to Mombasa less than 3 Hrs drive arriving late in the evening drop off at your respective hotel.
