Tsavo East National Park:

Tsavo East is one of the oldest and largest national parks in Kenya, covering an area of about 13,747 square kilometers.

It was established in 1948 and is part of the Tsavo Conservation Area, which includes Tsavo West National Park and Chyulu Hills National Park.

The landscape of Tsavo East is characterized by vast plains, semi-arid acacia scrub, and the flowing Galana River.

The park is renowned for its diverse wildlife, including large herds of elephants, lions, leopards, buffalo, giraffes, zebras, and numerous bird species.

Notable attractions within Tsavo East include the Yatta Plateau, Lugard Falls, Mudanda Rock, and the Aruba Dam.

Lumo Sanctuary

Lumo Sanctuary is a wildlife conservancy located in Kenya, East Africa.

It spans over 48,000 acres of land, comprising diverse ecosystems including savannah, woodland, and riverine forests.

Lumo Sanctuary is home to a rich variety of wildlife, including elephants, lions, giraffes, zebras, buffalo, and numerous bird species.

The sanctuary is managed by the Taita-Taveta Wildlife Conservancy, focusing on conservation efforts and sustainable wildlife management.

Visitors can enjoy safari experiences such as game drives, guided walks, and bird watching.

The sanctuary offers eco-friendly accommodations, including tented camps and lodges, providing an immersive experience in nature.

Location: Ziwani Camp is situated in Tsavo West National Park, Kenya.

Safari Itinerary

You will be picked up at your beach hotel in Diani or Mombasa and drive 3 hours from Diani and 2 hours from Mombasa towards Tsavo East Park.

Enjoy a safari in one of the parks overlooking elephants, giraffes, lions, gazelles, buffaloes, etc. and arrive at your camp or lodge in time for lunch. Return to the lodge until 1600hrs for game drive until 1820 and stay overnight there.

The next morning, after breakfast, the driver will pick you up early enough to enjoy the morning game drives, as many animals are active and lions are hunting at this hour. With luck, you can discover some.

After 2-3 hours of wildlife viewing, leave the park and drive to Lumo in Taita Hills. The journey takes about 1 hour. Enjoy the wildlife view and check in at the Lions Bluff Lodge. Guests can relax until 16:00 in the afternoon and continue their game drive until late in the evening.

Overnight at your lodge.

On the third day, very early in the morning, enjoy breakfast with views of Mount Kilimanjaro, weather permitting, from a distance you can watch the animal view from the top of the mountain. Take another game drive in the rich wildlife sanctuaries of Lumo / Taita Hills. Leave the park at 1000hrs and drive to the west side of Tsavo East in about 90 minutes.

Arrive at your 3rd accomodation at Ziwani Voyager Camp, have lunch and relax in the afternoon at the camp while watching the varieties of animals and crocodiles / hippos on the River Sante next to your safari tent. From this camp you can see the Kilimanjaro and guests have the opportunity to spend an hour walking in the nature at 1600hrs and returning to camp. In Voyager you have the opportunity to take a game drive at night, which usually starts between 1900 and 200 hours to observe active animals such as hippos, bush babies, etc. at night. Overnight at the camp and after breakfast.

On the 4th day leave the camp and make a final game drive towards the gate. In the afternoon you arrive at the hotel and relax in the pool or enjoy the fresh breeze from the Indian Ocean.
